Remains of NPA rebel exhumed in Misamis Oriental
DAVAO CITY – Security forces dug the remains of an alleged member of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) at a burial site in Sitio Minkasi, Brgy Mimbuntong, Gingoog City on Tuesday (May 2).

The 58th Infantry Battalion in its report Wednesday said the cadaver was identified as Romy Ayuma alias Anot, a member of the NPA’s Guerilla Front 4B, Southern Regional Command.

Ayuma was killed and buried in the said area while attempting to elude government forces.

First Lieutenant Vincent Mark Maddul, civil military operations officer, said that a former rebel who surrendered to their unit tipped off the whereabouts of the cadaver of alias Anot.

The troops also confirmed the rebel was hit by a bullet in his abdomen.

The remains were then brought to Mata Funeral Homes in Gingoog City for proper disposition and examination immediately after his family was informed.

Lieutenant Colonel Ricky L. Canatoy, 58th IB commander said that Rayuma could be one of many NPA members abandoned by the armed group to die alone in the hinterlands. He said NPA rebels have no regard for human life, as evidenced by their practice of leaving wounded comrades to die in the killing fields.
