NPA arms cache found in Davao De Oro
DAVAO CITY — The Philippine Army’s 66th Infantry Battalion and members of the Philippine National Police recovered high-powered firearms from a suspected New People’s Army (NPA) arms cache in the vicinity of Mamada, Sitio Libuton, Brgy Andap, New Bataan, Davao De Oro recently.

Lt.  Col.  Julius Munar,  the commander of 66th IB said a former NPA rebel gave them information regarding the whereabouts of the arms cache.

Munar said his troops and Davao De Oro Provincial Police Office (DDOPPO) recovered 3 AK47 rifles, M16 rifle, M203 Grenade Launcher, and two magazines. 

He said the communist terrorist groups (CTG) belonging to the Regional Operations Command, Regional Headquarters of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (ROC, RHQ, SMRC) buried the weapons and ammunition. 

Maj. Gen. Nolasco A Mempin, 10th ID commander lauded 66IB's relentless effort which resulted to this accomplishment and extended his gratitude to those who participate in the operations, especially to the former rebels whose sincere cooperation led to the mission's success. 

"Let us work hand-in-hand as we go nearer to our goal of totally eradicating the communist insurgency in the region,”Mempin said. 

Mempin also called on the public to continue to support the government in order to attain genuine peace and development in the whole of Southern Mindanao. 

A total of 191 firearms had already been recovered by 10th ID from January 1, 2022 until this month.

Out of 191 firearms, 123 were recovered through combat operations, while 68 were surrendered.
