NFA, FTI give 4 refrigerated containers to Davao City

The Davao City government received four 40-footer refrigerated containers from the National Food Authority and Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI) intended for the city's Food Terminal Complex (DCFTC)in Dumoy, Toril District.

Acting Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte along with other officials in the city led the turnover ceremony on Tuesday (April 5).

DCFTC is a 17-million worth facility project which is a component of the Regional Food Terminal Program of the NFA and FTI and serves as a post-harvest facility especially if there is an oversupply of fruits and vegetables during harvest seasons.

The City Information Office (CIO) in its report said the city is now in the final stages of crafting the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for the operation of the DFTC .

City Agriculturist Leo Brian Leuterio said they are expecting to complete the IRR within the month.

Leuterio said that his office in coordination with the other offices/agencies, who are members of a technical working group, is consulting with the City Legal Office to ensure that the IRR is aligned with the other laws.

He said he hopes to fast track the opening of the food terminal whose structure has been long completed.

The establishment of DFTC aims to improve farmer-consumer trading markets through organized and strengthened farmers organizations.
