Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division (ID) in its report Thursday (May 12) said top ranking NPA leader Eric Jun Casilao alias “Elian” killed and buried his comrade Crispin Rollon alias Jeffrey, 52 years old.
Casilao is currently the secretary of the NPA’s Southern Mindanao Regional Committee and facing various criminal cases including kidnapping and serious illegal detention, and several counts of murder.
Casilao has a P5.4-million bounty from the Department of National Defense – Department of Interior and Local Government Joint Order of Reward.
10th ID spokesman Captain Mark Anthony Tito said that based on the revelation of Alias Vina, the squad supply officer of Regional Operations Command (ROC) who surrendered to the government forces on April 27, said Rollon was murdered by Casilao as the former was considered to be a burden to their movement while they were fleeing from Focused-Military Operations by the 10th ID.
"Dahil sa sobrang gutom, nanghina si Jeffrey, hindi na makalakad. Kaya naging pabigat, binugbog nalang siya at sinakal ni Ka Elian hanggang sa mamatay, then nilibing sa may Andap, Vina said in vernacular, according to Tito.
Vina’s revelation prompted the military and police to launch an operation which resulted in the successful exhumation of the cadaver of Rollon.
Major General Nolasco A. Mempin, 10ID Commander, meanwhile condemned the savage atrocities of the Communist Terrorist Group, adding the barbaric act of NPA leaders is unacceptable.
“If only they chose to surrender, this would not have happened that they need to kill each other just for them to survive,” Mempin said.
Mempin renewed his call to the remaining NPA members to lay down their arms, return to their families, and live a peaceful and meaningful life ahead.
