The newly appointed PSC head emphasized that his priority is to look after the athletes as they compete in numerous critical international competitions this year.
Filipino athletes will compete in the 19th Asian Games in China in September and the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand in November, in addition to the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia in May.
They will also compete in several Olympic qualifying events to top Hidilyn Diaz's record-setting performance from Tokyo two years ago.
Additionally, the Filipinas will compete in the FIFA Women's World Cup in New Zealand in July, while Gilas Pilipinas will play in the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Manila in August.
Bachmann emphasized that they would stop at nothing to meet the demands of the athletes, particularly in terms of diet, compensation, and training facilities.
“My focus for the athletes would be their nutrition and ensuring they are properly fed, so they perform properly,” the 54-year-old Bachmann said.
Bachmann is aware that to succeed, he needs to collaborate well with the staff of the government sports agency, the Philippine Olympic Committee, and other national sports associations.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
