The Southshield FC 15 and under team won the championship crown in their division after beating Kamp Kalaw 3-2 via a penalty shoo-out.
Gian Goyonan, one of the veteran players on the team who started young with the club, scored the winning goal against the Nabunturan, a Davao de Oro based team.
In the elimination round, the teams had already met, but their game just ended in a draw.
In the two-day tournament, Kael Morata, also from Southshield, was declared the best striker in the 15U division.
Morata's teammate, Rommel Bactar Jr., was also declared the most valuable player in the tournament.
A total of 12 teams from Mindanao participated in the tournament earlier.
The win is sweet for the team since they overcame the odds after two of their top players, Art Eroy and goalkeeper Zyk Lopez, suffered injuries during the tournament.
The champion team is coached by former University of Mindanao soccer varsity player Roland Balot Manabit.
The Southshield 13U and 12U also won as first runner-ups in their division.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
