Barangay captain of Matiao in Mati City, Davao Oriental was fatally shot by unknown perpetrators around 8:18 Wednesday night (April 13) in his residence in Purok Matahimik-1 in said barangay.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 in its report identified the victim as Ronie Palma Gil Valera, 57 years old.
PRO 11 said the victim was resting in a hammock inside his house when suddenly an unidentified person shot him several times.
Members of Mati Police Station immediately proceeded to the area after they received information regarding the incident.
Police have yet to determine the motive of the killing.
