Davao records 4% COVID positivity rate
DAVAO CITY - The city has reported a 4 percent positivity rate, the lowest since the notable downtrend of COVID-19 cases the past few weeks.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the city’s COVID-19 spokesperson said that the low positivity rate can be attributed to the massive vaccination rollout and the compliance of Dabawenyos to the public minimum health standards (PMHS).

Schlosser believes that vaccination has been very effective and the adherence of the public to the minimum health standards such as use of face masks, avoiding crowded places, social distancing, hand washing or hand hygiene.

The city government continuously encourages people to get vaccinated as soon as possible to have a merry Christmas celebration.

The city health official also said Dabawenyos can be confident and will have peace of mind during the holidays once the target herd immunity is achieved.

Meanwhile, she also thanked parents for their all-out support to the pediatric vaccination rollout, adding that parents have understood the importance of vaccination.

Currently, the operational pediatric vaccination sites in the city are GMall Toril, Mabini Elementary School, Calinan Elementary School, Matina Aplaya Elementary School, and F. Dizon Elementary School.

All public and private hospitals also cater to pediatric vaccination but registration is needed.

Pediatric individuals  who want to get vaccinated are required to bring a birth certificate or school ID for proof of age, and Safe Davao QR.  Minors with comorbidities will have to provide a medical certificate.

A parent or guardian with a valid ID must accompany the child. Guardians must also bring an ID of the parent.

For inquiries, contact the city’s vaccination hotline numbers: Smart Hotline: (0961)-0734965 / Globe Hotline: (0927)-0229087.(BY RUTH PALO)
