Davao City lights up with Paskong Pinoy for Pasko Fiesta 2025
The spirit of Filipino Christmas shines brighter as Davao City officially opened Pasko Fiesta 2025 with the theme, Paskong Pinoy.

The theme highlights iconic Filipino symbols such as parol, torotot and nipa hut.

A 30- feet Christmas tree adorned with Filipino elements was put up and a new music video and the official Pasko Fiesta theme song were played to mark the start of the city’s grand holiday celebration.

Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte said that Christmas in Davao City is not only about celebration but about living the values of peace, respect and generosity that strengthens the community.

Ug kana makuha nato, daghan pang laing butang nga musunod, makapalambo sa atong lugar (Christmas is a season of giving. We, Dabawenyos are known to be helpful, disciplined. We have values. We prioritize peace, especially during Christmas. That's what we've been practicing for a long time. We really give importance to peace. That peace will come only when we know how to give, we know how to look after our fellow human beings and give respect to our fellow Dabawenyos. It all starts with our behavior. And if we get that, other things will follow that will also help boost our city),“ he said.

City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) Administrative Officer Charlotte Parba, during I-Speak media forum last November 20, 2025, also said that the Paskong Pinoy theme is a refreshing shift from the westernized themes used in the previous years.

Meanwhile, Acting Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo S. Duterte II urged Dabawenyos to let the Christmas season inspire compassion and harmony to everyone.

“Let the spirit of Christmas heal our hearts and minds to choose peace over conflict, stability over chaos and love over hatred. Let us set aside greed, selfishness and other inhumane actions. Rather, let us treat everyone with respect, basic decency and care that every human being deserves,” he said.

He added that the contests and activities during the Pasko Fiesta aims to strengthen the sportsmanship and showcase the talents and ingenuity of Dabawenyos in a friendly and healthy manner.

“May you continuously embody the basic Filipino traits and values of cheerfulness, strong drive for success and sportsmanship, despite the results of every competition,” he added.

From November 28–30, December 13, and December 25–28, the City Hall will resonate with joyful Christmas carols during the Panayegon sa City Hall.

Families and children are also invited to enjoy the Perya sa Pasko at the Rizal Park Open Grounds from December 1–25.

With the parol lighting the way, Pasko Fiesta 2025 promises to be a celebration of Filipino identity, unity and joy and a Christmas that is proudly and uniquely Dabawenyo. CIO
