PNP chief orders deeper probe on NGCP tower bombing in Lanao del Sur
DAVAO CITY- Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Dionardo B. Carlos ordered the regional police of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR) to conduct a thorough investigation on the bombing of a transmission tower of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Lanao del Sur on December 2.

Carlos said the investigation will establish what really transpired and will lead to the identification and arrest of the culprits.

The police are also coordinating with NGCP and other possible witnesses of the bombing incident as it strongly condemns the terroristic act that only brought more suffering to people in affected communities.

“The PNP understands that this incident will further burden the public as service interruption of power supply is inevitable,” he added.

The NGCP earlier announced the repair of its tower 65 will commence as soon as the area is secured.

The NGCP further said that tower 65 of the Agus 2-Kibawe 138 kV, located in Maguing town, Lanao del Sur, was the latest attack.

“This transmission line segment has been unenergized since September 2021 due to sabotage of its insulators by still unknown individuals,” NGCP in a  statement said.

The NGCP also said the bombing of the tower was an additional burden to the public as the sabotage had caused service interruptions.
