DCPO readies security plan for vice president elect Sara’s inauguration June 19
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesman Major Ma. Teresita Gaspan said they are now preparing the security plan for the oath-taking of incoming vice-president and outgoing Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on June 19.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday’s (May 18) AFP-PNP Press Corps media briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Gaspan said the security measures are already templated, however, there are some adjustments to be made since more visitors from outside Davao Region are expected to come.

“We are preparing for the security plan, and medyo major event ni. Templated naman atong security plan, I think for that matter ipa-fine tune na lang siya. May mga adjustment especially nga gina-expect nato ang daghang bisita outside Region 11,” Gaspan said.

She said they are still awaiting the coordinating conference to be initiated by the city government to finalize the security preparation for the historic event in the city.

Gaspan said there is no final venue yet for the inauguration since the presumptive vice president announced the inauguration event on June 19 during her radio program on Monday (May 16).

Gaspan further said they are also expecting the presence of President Rodrigo Duterte for his daughter’s oath-taking as vice president after leading the vice presidential race with over 31.5 million votes based on the partial and unofficial count of the Commission on Elections.

Sara said she will hold her inauguration earlier than the traditional June 30 schedule so that she could attend the oath-taking of her running mate, presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“While waiting for the proclamation, I already pencilled June 19 as the inauguration date in Davao City. The Dabawenyos’ patience made me the public servant that I am today, it is only fitting to honor them the opportunity to witness the oathtaking,” Duterte said.
