Speaking at the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday (Aug. 11) Alejandre said the program for the Kadayawan Opening has already been finalized.
“We are ready for the opening of the Kadayawan this coming Monday. In fact, we had an Execom meeting yesterday just to finalize the series of events, together with our sub-committees and members,” Alejandre said.
A Misa Pasasalamat will be held first to be presided by Archbishop Romulo Valles between 3-4 p.m. at the Bantawan Amphitheatre, followed by the blessing of the Bantawan Amphitheatre.
Alejandre said that the Pag-Abli sa Kadayawan will have a very short program from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
The program will start with a tri-people opening prayer, a welcome performance of the Kalumon Ensemble and then a welcome message from Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. president Dr. Maria Luisa Monteverde.
This will be followed by the symbolic offering by the 11 tribes and the Hiyas sa Kadayawan.
Mayor Baste Duterte will also give his message to the Davaoeños during the opening.
All the deputy mayors of the 11 tribes will gather in front with the mayor for the symbolic banging of the gong to signal the official opening of the Kadayawan festivities.
Alejandre said Davaoeños can witness the cultural performances of the 11 tribes which will be showcased starting August 16 at the Bantawan Amphitheatre.
