5 POs in Davao del Sur get gov’t aid
DAVAO CITY-Five Peoples Organizations (PO) from the former Conflict Affected Area (CAA) and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantage Area (GIDA) in Davao Del Sur received cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

These POs include Tapicong, Datal Colon Integrated Farmers Workers Association (TADACOINFAWA) with 27 members; Tagaytay United Farmers and Workers Association Incorporated (TUFAWAI) with 178 members; and Labidangan Peace and Development Farmers Association (LAPDFA) compose of 105 members. These POs are based in Magsaysay, Davao Del Sur 

The other two recipient POs from Matanao town are Saub Farmers Association (SAFA) which has 40 members and Bangkal Farmers and Workers Association (BAFAWOAS) with 34 members. 

Each group was given P400,000 from DSWD 11’s livelihood assistance during the distribution activity at the Municipal Hall of Magsaysay in said province on December 16.

 Lieutenant Colonel Ezra Balagtey, commander of Philippine Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion based in Makilala, North Cotabato said the POs were composed of former rebels and members of the underground mass organizations of the Communist Terrorist Group in the area.

Balagtey thanked  DSWD and other agencies for helping the POs  run their organization in the future.

The grant is part of the Whole of Nation (WoN) Approach of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict as additional startup capital.
