Duterte made the pronouncement during the turnover of command ceremony for the new city police director at Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Headquarters in Camp Capt. Leonor Domingo, San Pedro St. following the rising number of drug-related cases in the city.
The young Duterte also warned drug suppliers and users to get out of the city immediately.
He said he has been receiving several complaints from Village chiefs (barangay captains) especially those highly densely populated areas about the rampant illegal drug activities in their respective communities.
Duterte urged barangay captains to help authorities in combating illegal drugs in their areas.
“Kung di mo muhawa di mo muondang patyon tamo. Dili ka afford madaot ang family, community tungod lang ana for your selfish venture. Gusto lang ka mudato kay mamaligya ka ug droga imong dauton ang laing tao tungod sa imong…because of your greediness,” Duterte said.
On Saturday dawn, March 23, anti-drug operatives from Buhangin Police Station launched a buy-bust operation against the number 1 drug personality in the city that resulted in an armed confrontation and led to the death of Sherwin Familiar who was allegedly armed with .38 revolver.
Shortly after the said operation, another two drug personalities, aliases Larry and Ngay also died in a buy-bust which resulted in armed confrontation with the police operatives.
On Sunday early morning, March 24, Tugbok Police had an encounter with alias “Timoy,” an alleged top 5 drug personality here.
Timoy, who was also armed with a .38 revolver, died due to fatal gunshot wounds on his body.
At 4:05 p.m on the same day, Intelligence personnel of Sta. Ana Police Station alongside City Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a joint anti-illegal drug buy-bust operation against Emmanuel Avila alias “Ime,” a top 1 city level high-value target.
Police seized a total of 53.79 grams of suspected shabu valued at about P365, 772 from the possession of Ime. A unit of .38 revolver without serial number was also recovered in his body.
Newly installed DCPO chief, Colonel Richard Bad-ang in an interview said that their campaign will focus on big-time drug suppliers, assuring that all procedures during the operation will be upheld and within the bounds of the law.
Bad-ang said they will also continue to work with barangay leaders and intelligence personnel to identify and arrest those involved in illegal drug activities.
“Definitely we will talk with the barangays. We’ll direct my policemen to talk with barangay captains and intelligence personnel to dig deeper to find out where these drugs come and sell here in the city,” Bad-ang said.
