CCSA captures Pulong Sepak Takraw 2026 championship
DAVAO CITY — CCSA emerged as the champion of the Pulong Sepak Takraw 2026: Battle of the Champions, after two days of intense competition at the Davao City Recreation Center on August 21–22.

CCSA showed consistency, teamwork and composure throughout the tournament, overcoming a strong field of competitors to secure the top spot. The team received ₱50,000 in cash and a championship trophy.

Boot Camp Diwa finished as 1st Runner-Up and took home ₱30,000 and a trophy, while SODUSTA placed 2nd Runner-Up with ₱20,000 and a trophy. CBC completed the top four, earning ₱15,000 and a trophy as 3rd Runner-Up.

The tournament featured high-level sepak takraw action, highlighted by powerful serves, accurate sets, explosive spikes and timely blocks that kept spectators engaged throughout the matches.

Individual Awards

Several players were also recognized for their performances:

Best Setter: Dominic Sagosoy — ₱2,000

Best Tekong: Rogin Lapaz — ₱2,000

Best Spiker: Helbert Albiso — ₱2,000

Best Blocker: Helbert Albiso — ₱2,000

Most Valuable Player: Robert Lapaz — ₱2,000

Albiso earned two individual honors after being named both Best Spiker and Best Blocker, while Lapaz was recognized as the tournament’s MVP.

Beyond the competition, the event also included a community assistance initiative, with Barangay Tacunan receiving 50 sacks of rice.

The tournament was organized through Pulong Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) under the leadership of Congressman Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, with the event highlighting the role of sports in promoting youth development, community engagement and camaraderie.

The awarding ceremony was represented by Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre of the 2nd District and Councilor Ragde Ibuyan Jr. of the 1st District, formally concluding the two-day competition.

More than determining a champion, the Pulong Sepak Takraw 2026 brought athletes and communities together through sports, teamwork and healthy competition.
