Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) spokesman Major Andrew Linao identified them as alias Bullet, 22 years old and a resident of Tipo-Tipo, Basilan.
Bullet was a member of Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG)under Nurhasan Jamiri in Basilan.
Four other Sulu-based ASG group members and Kidnap-for-Ransom Group surrendered to the Marine Battalion Landing Team-7 under the Naval Task Group Sulu and 4th Marine Brigade in Panamao.
The surrenderers also yielded their firearms including M16A1 rifles, M1 Garand rifle, caliber 45 pistol, and assorted ammunition.
Joint Task Force Basilan commander Brigadier General Domingo Gobway said the strength and manpower of the ASG have already dwindled.
Gobway vowed to sustain their efforts to totally eradicate the group and bring lasting peace in the province of Basilan.
Major General Alfredo Rosario, Jr. , WestMinCom chief commended the troops for their respective accomplishments.
“The Western Mindanao Command through its Joint Task Forces is tightening its security operations that is why most of the members and supporters of the threat groups opted to return to the folds of the law,” he said.
This year alone, a total of 206 ASG members have surrendered to the military, 165 of them yielded in Sulu, 37 in Basilan, three in Tawi-Tawi, and one in Zamboanga City.
