DAVAO CITY---A young player from Valencia City, Bukidnon, was selected as player of the week in the PBA this week.

Converge FiberXers starting point guard Aljun Melecio was named the best PBA player this week.

Melecion, a former player for the De La Salle Arches in the UAAP, got the honor of helping his team keep its winning streak in the ongoing PBA Commissioners Cup.

The FiberXers received Melecio and big man Kris Porter from the Phoenix Fuel Masters in exchange for big man Ben Adamos and rookie Kurt Lojera.

FiberXers head coach Aldin Ayo decided to get Melecio since both of them won a UAAP championship in 2016 during the rookie season of the 5-foot-9 playmaker at De La Salle University.

Phoenix earlier drafted Melecio in the PBA draft of 2021.

Melecio has decided to enter the PBA draft in 2021 and fulfill his lifelong dream of playing in Asia's oldest professional basketball league.

The Mindanaoan is a sought-after guard due to his speed and tenacity to score.

He joins Davao City native Allyn Bulanadi and New Bataan, Davao de Oro resident Jeo Ambohot on the roster of FiberXers.(Romeo Braceros, Jr.)
