On Friday, the PBA board approved the trade between Phoenix and Converge and paved the way for FiberXers head coach Aldi Ayo and Bukidnon basketball star Aljun Melecio.
to work with the same team again.
The FiberXers received Melecio and big man Kris Porter from the Fuel Masters in exchange for big man Ben Adamos and rookie Kurt Lojera.
Ayo decided to get Melecio, a native of Valencia City, since both of them won a UAAP championship in 2016 during the rookie season of the 5-foot-9 playmaker at De Lasalle University.
Phoenix earlier drafted Melecio in the PBA draft of 2021.
Melecio has decided to enter the PBA draft in 2021 and fulfill his lifelong dream of playing in Asia's oldest professional basketball league.
