UST wins big in 1st Mayor Abaraham Tolentino Cup: 4th National Sambo Championships
Davao City—The sambo practitioners from the University of Santo Tomas Tigers ruled the 1st Mayor Abraham Tolentino Cup at the 4th National Sambo Championships in Tagaytay City on March 4-5.

The UST Tigers won 13 medals in the tournament, consisting of seven golds and six silvers.

Tigers head coach Gerard Arce is pleased and proud of the achievements of his athletes.

Pilipinas Sambo president Davaoeno Paolo Tancontian is happy with the event's success since the last time they hosted a national championship was way back in 2019, before the pandemic struck.

Recently, five members of Pilipinas Sambo, a Davao City-based sports association, brought honor to the country after winning 13 medals in the Malaysia Grappling League 2023 on February 18–19 in Malaysia.

Godwin Langbayan won four golds, Mariano Mariano won four golds, Mark Strigle won two golds, and Troy Legaspi won one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
