Tancontian, 21 is the newly designated chairperson of the Athletes Entourage Commission of FIAS, the committee is tasked to oversee the welfare of Sambo athletes all over the world in international tournaments.
Four Sambo personalities from other parts of the world are serving as members and a secretary in the FIAS Committee chaired by the Davaoeno.
Earlier, Tancontian revealed that she has decided to lower her weight to compete in lower categories from her usual above 80-kilogram category.
In an interview over PTV Sports, Tancontian explained going down in weight to around 14 kilos is a good move for her part so that her body can still adjust and that she can win more medals for the Philippines in international Sambo tournaments.
Aside from going down in weight, Tancontian also hopes to compete in more international Sambo competitions to gain more experience and confidence.
"I think ang pagsali ko sa more Sambo competitions will help me gain more self confidence," Tancontian said.
Tancontian won the bronze medal in the 2020 World Sambo Championship in Novi Sad, Serbia last November 8, 2020.
The Davaoena won the bronze medal earlier in the 80-kilogram Women’s senior category after beating Spain’s Evadne Huecas with a score of 2-1.
She said her bronze medal is the product of her hard work and experience.
Sadly, Tancontian did not win any medal in the 2021 World Sambo Championship in Uzbekistan last November 11-15. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
