PSC provides better support to Asian-bound athletes
DAVAO CITY---To better assist Filipino competitors at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, in late September, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) officials are drawing on their knowledge of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.

Richard Bachmann, chairman of the PSC, stated that more has to be done to meet athletes' requirements during contests, especially in a prestigious event like the aforementioned quadrennial meet.

While the SEAG was taking place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Bachmann and Commissioners Bong Coo, Walter Torres, and Edward Hayco were there to watch the athletes in action.

According to Bachmann, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the organizing committee are collaborating on the criteria for sports that will be accepted in the Asian Games to find common ground for all competing sports.

While enhancing players' performance at the highest levels is a priority, the PSC has also set goals for expanding its grassroots program.

The organization plans to upgrade facilities to a more competitive level while holding Batang Pinoy and the Philippine National Games the following year.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
