DAVAO CITY---The 2023 Pinatar Cup, held in Murcia, Spain, on February 15, will require the Philippine women's national football team to perform at its highest level.

Hali Long, the co-captain of the Philippines, stated that there is still more to be done as they prepare for the forthcoming FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand in July.

In the opening game of the friendly tournament, which also features European powerhouses Wales, Ireland, and Scotland, the Philippine squad will make its debut wearing new equipment from the German manufacturer.

Last Thursday, the squad flew to Spain to begin preparations for the competition, which will serve as a warm-up for the World Cup and other tournaments in which  Filipino women will compete.

The Filipino women will compete in the first round of the Olympic qualifications from 3 to 11 April following the Pintar Cup, afterwhich, they will travel to Cambodia for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games from 5 to 17 May.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
