Long-time PBA rivals Ginebra-Purefoods renew rivalry in USEP Gym on May 14
DAVAO CITY---The legendary PBA players we love who played for Ginebra San Miguel and Purefoods Hotdogs in the 1980s and 90s are set to return to continue their fierce rivalry on the hardcourt on May 14 at 5 p.m. at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) gym in Obrero here.

Dubbed Legends Return of the Rivals, the event will showcase our favorite PBA players in the 1980s and 90s, including Alvin Patrimonio, Jerry Codinera, Allan Caidic, and Nelson Asaytono.

Guesting before the weekly AFP/PNP press conference at the Royal Mandaya Hotel on May 10, Roderick Masa, the event organizer from UNTV, revealed that the highly anticipated event is the third leg of the Legends game wherein former PBA players face their rivals on the court again.

Masa said the first two legs were held in Metro Manila, wherein Ginebra won one game against Purefoods.

"The Davao leg is the first Legends tournament outside of Metro Manila. We decided to hold it in Davao because we already did some other projects here, and the logistics are hard if we do it elsewhere," Masa said.

He said the loyal fans of Ginebra and Purefoods in Davao City should not miss the chance to watch the game live because they will not only get the opportunity to see their PBA idols play in the flesh but also help the PBA Foundation as well.

"This event is also a fundraiser since it seeks to help former PBA players who need financial aid," Masa added.

Masa said one of the former PBA players they helped is the late Purefoods guard Rudy Enterina who died in a vehicular accident in Cebu recently.

"We gave financial help to the family of Rudy Enterina," he said.

Masa said those who wished to get tickets for the event could get them at the venue itself before the 5 p.m. game or smtickets.com.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
