Ex-UM track star set to carry PH flag in 5,000 meters run in 2022 Vietnam SEA Games
DAVAO CITY---A former track star from the University of Mindanao is part of the Philippines athletics team who will compete in the 2022 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam on May 10-23.

Sonny Wagdos, a  BIMP-Eaga Friendship Games double gold medalist is set to compete in the 5,000 meters run for men.

In the 2019 SEA Games hosted by the Philippines Wagdos won the bronze medal in the same event.

Wagdos got the slot to compete in Vietnam due to his medal performance in 2019 and his strong performance in the qualifying trials from December 2019 until this year.

A native of  Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, Wagdos, 24 started his running in his elementary years at the Telaje Elementary School in Tandag, Surigao del Sur at 12 years old.

Wagdos is hopeful he can win another medal in the SEA Games this year. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
