Ex-UM track star gets 2 medals in Taiwan
Davao City—A former track star from the University of Mindanao is currently on a winning roll in the international stage.

After winning a silver medal in the recent 31st Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia, Sgt. Sonny Wagdos, an enlisted member of the Philippine Air Force, won two medals in an international athletic meet in Taiwan.

Wagdos won gold in the 10,000-meter event and silver in the 5,000-meter competition.

Wagdos finished second in the 5,000-meter run for men in the Cambodia SEA Games.

In a Facebook post, Wagdos expressed elation for his win.

"Thank You for the Strength and Guidance, Lord God🙏😊," Wagdos said.

Wagdos, 25, a native of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, won a bronze medal in the 2019 and 2022 Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines at the same event.

On April 28, 2022, Wagdos won the gold medal in the 2022 Philippine Athletics Championship at the Philsports Complex, Pasig City.
