Davaoeno targets wrestling gold in Cambodia SEA Games
Davao City ---Davaoeno Sambo practitioner Chino Sy Tancontian will shift gears in the forthcoming Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia next month.

Tancontian, a former SEA Games gold medallist for Pilipinas Sambo, will not be competing in his original sport, but instead, he will vie for gold in a wrestling competition.

The University of Santo Tomas Tigers judo varsity is confident of his chances of winning a gold medal in Cambodia.

"Nakapag prepare naman po kami," Tancontian said.

Pilipinas Sambo president Paolo Tancontian told Newsfort that his son Chino and four other Sambo athletes decided to participate in other sports since their sport has been scrapped in this year's SEA Games.

The elder Tancontian said four other Sambo athletes will compete in Bokator, a traditional martial art in Cambodia.

Tancontian will be very busy in Cambodia since the Philippine Sports Commission appoints him as the Deputy Chef de Mission (DCDM) for the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in 2023.

POC president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino made a move since Tancontian is a reliable sports official who cares for the athletes since he was a bemedalled athlete in his younger years.

As DCDM, Tancotian is tasked to take care of the needs of the SEA Games athletes to ensure they can perform well in their chosen sports.

In a Facebook post, Tancontian is  grateful and happy to be given the task of leading the SEA Games contingent in Cambodia next year.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
