It was learned that Yulo will get more than P1.6 million cash incentives for his medal haul.
Based on the Republic Act 10699, a gold medal winner in the said biennial meet is entitled to a P300,000 cash bonus, while a silver medal is worth P150,000 and a bronze P60,000.
Yulo became the most bemedalled Filipino athlete in the SEA Games after collecting five gold and two silver medals.
His golds came in individual all-around rings, vault, horizontal bar, and floor exercise, while his silver medals were won in the parallel bar and team event.
Earlier, Yulo was expected to win a medal in the Olympics due to his high world ranking, but sadly he failed to win any award in the biggest sports competition in the world.
While feeling down about his Olympic performance, Yulo used his failure as motivation, resulting in a fantastic performance in this year’s SEA Games. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
