2 Dabawenyos win  big in Manny Pacquiao chess tourney
DAVAO CITY---Two Davaoeno chess players splashed in the Manny Pacquiao national chess tournament in Robinsons Place Gensan last February 27-28.

Irwin Dango Aton, the coach of the Davao City chess team in the Batang Pinoy, finished second in the tournament participated by some of the top chess players in the country.

Aton scored 7.5 points to finish as runner-up in the tournament.

The Davaoeno won a P30,000 cash prize and a trophy.

Another Davaoeno, Austin Jacob Literatus, finished third in the tournament and won P20,000.

The tournament was earlier organized to celebrate Kalilangan Festival.

KALILANGAN is the carrier event of the City of General Santos Foundation Anniversary, known as the ‘Cultural Festival’ of the city, that celebrates the shared histories among its Tri-People inhabitants, mainly focusing on their cooperation, unity, and harmonious co-existence with a recognition of their rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions.
