Over the weekend, Bachmann visited with representatives and athletes from the Baguio City-based sports of boxing, muay Thai, and athletics.
“I can say that there are a lot of improvements to be done. We have a lot of work to do, but I know we will be able to accomplish it slowly but surely,” Bachmann said.
The national boxing team, which is comprised of silver medalists from the Tokyo Olympics (Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio), silver medalists from the Asian Games (Rogen Ladon), and medalists from the South East Asian Games (Irish Magno), had the chance to talk with Bachmann about their training and competition schedules.
The competitors are preparing for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, in September and the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in May.
Islay Erika Bomogo (gold), Rudzma Abubar (bronze), and Joida Gagnao, an athletics medalist from Manila who won a gold medal in the SEA Games in Hanoi, were among the athletes Bachmann visited during their training.
Before traveling to Baguio, Bachmann also paid a visit to the training facilities of the windsurfers in Anilao, Batangas, the gymnastics team in Intramuros, and the para-athletes competing in squash, soft tennis, table tennis, water polo, and other sports at the RMSC and Philsports in Pasig.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
