DAVAO CITY---Real Madrid star defender David Alaba, half Austrian and half Filipino, offered his team's recent European Champions League trophy to his family, especially his Filipina mother, Gina Alaba, a former beauty queen who lives in Lupon town, Davao Oriental.
Alaba personally presented their championship trophy to his family during the championship ceremony on May 28.
In a Facebook post, Gina Alaba thanked all her son's supporters for their prayers and support.
"Thx everyone for your prayers and support, God bless each one of us," Alaba said.
Real Madrid earlier beat Liverpool in Paris to win their 14th European Cup trophy.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is pleased and proud of their latest accolade in European soccer.
"This European Cup will be remembered as one of the greatest in the history for how they achieved it," Perez said.
"I want to thank all the fans. This is a club that has no owner, all of you are the owners of our own destiny," Perez added. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
