Gabriel Ryan, affectionately known as Gab by his peers, a 15-year-old currently in 9th Grade at Victory Christian International School, amassed a total of 6.5 points, claiming the top spot ahead of National Master Cyrus James Damiray of Far Eastern University in second place and National Master John Cyrus Borce of Ateneo de Zamboanga University in third place. The event drew over 500 chess players from various parts of the Philippines and was organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) with the support of the local government of Negros Oriental under Governor Manuel "Chaco" Sagarbarria.

"I am truly grateful and didn't expect to be granted this victory. Thank you to our God. Many thanks to my parents for their unwavering support. I also want to express my gratitude to my coach Gerry Paul Nudalo for continuously helping me improve as a chess player. Thanks to Mayor Vico Sotto and the Pasig LGU for their trust and support. Special thanks to our head coach, Franco Camillo at Pasig City Grassroots Chess and to all the coaches. I also want to thank my teacher and Victory Christian International School - Homeschool Global. Lastly, thanks to NCFP and Negros Oriental LGU," said Gab.

Gab's journey to victory was marked by challenges and triumphs, from early victories against skilled opponents to hard-fought draws and critical wins in the later rounds. With each move, Gab demonstrated not only his mastery of the game but also his humility and sportsmanship.

Gab began with a win against the skilled Keth Daniel Delig, followed by a draw after the surprising attack of Bienvenido Nemis, leading to two closely contested victories against opponents Harold Almaiz and National Master Gladimir Chester Romero. Subsequent draws against the formidable chess player Mark Alfonso Azaola set the stage for three critical games, including a win against the veteran players National Master Cyrus James Damiray and Vincent Ryu Dimayuga, and a draw in the final round against a strong player in National Master John Cyrus Borce.

As he stood victorious at the tournament's conclusion, Gab's victory resonated not only with the chess community but also with aspiring young players across the nation. With grace and humility, Gab is starting to achieve his dream, inspiring others to pursue their dreams as well with dedication and perseverance.
