The accident occurred on the morning of April 11 when a wayward truck rammed into a covered court in the area. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and led to the collapse of part of the structure, trapping individuals who were inside at the time.
Authorities reported that six people died in the incident, including the truck driver and his companion, as well as bystanders present at the venue.
Among the fatalities were Barangay Tanod Manuel Ongando Jr., his wife Irene Ongando, and senior citizen Jose F. Gonsi, who sustained a severe traumatic brain injury.
In response, Go’s team visited Sitio Kiopao, Barangay Magsaysay, and Pagan Grande in Marilog District to deliver assistance to the bereaved families. Each affected family received flowers, grocery packs, and financial assistance to help cover immediate needs during the wake and burial preparations.
In a message conveyed through his team, Go expressed concern for the families coping with the sudden loss of their loved ones.
He also stressed the importance of community support in times of crisis.
Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the truck losing control and crashing into the covered court, including possible mechanical issues and road conditions at the time of the incident.
