VP Sara thanks Laos, Thailand for efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking
Vice President Sara Duterte has called for closer collaboration among Southeast Asian nations to address illegal drug trafficking, citing the need for stronger enforcement and information-sharing across the region.

In a statement released by the Office of the Vice President on Sunday, October 11, Duterte thanked the governments of Laos and Thailand for their continued action against the illegal drug trade and their efforts to promote regional security.

She noted that initiatives against illegal drugs help shield Filipino families from the serious consequences of drug abuse and trafficking.

Duterte also recognized the challenges facing the Philippines, including concerns about its connection to drug trafficking activities in the region. She expressed regret over the country’s association with the issue. BuyMaps

She said the Philippines, as a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), needs to strengthen its response through more effective law enforcement, better intelligence coordination, and closer partnerships with neighboring countries.

Duterte added that the country should draw lessons from the experiences of other ASEAN members and fulfill its role in advancing peace and security across Southeast Asia.
