SC to have Bar Exams in September
DAVAO CITY (PIA)- The Chairperson of the 2023 Bar Examinations Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando said that among the reforms they will be introducing in the coming Bar Exams is moving the date of the examinations to September instead of November.

“Starting with my Bar in 2023 we will have an earlier bar, September and we hope the results of the bar will come out in less than two months so that by December next year we would welcome into our bench and the bar our new lawyers,” Associate Justice Hernando said.

During his speech at the turnover of the History Marker for the 2020-2021 Bar Exams at the Ateneo de Davao, Justice Hernando said that the digitalization and regionalization of the bar exams will still continue.

“To the bar that will still be digital and ever will be digital and regional it will remain to be,” Justice Hernando said.

The digital and regional bar exams started during the 2020-2021 bar exams where the Supreme Court conducted the bar exams in 31 testing sites across 23 local government units.

Among the testing sites of the 2020-2021 Bar Exams was the Ateneo de Davao Senior High School Campus in Bangkal which hosted 478 bar examinees.

The Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, the 2020-2021 Bar Examinations Chairperson, praised Ateneo de Davao’s hosting of the recent bar examinations and the support of the Local Government Unit of Davao City.

“It was here where we saw the fantastic support of the school administration and its personnel, it was here where we were elated by the support given by the City Government,” Associate Justice Leonen said during his speech at the turnover of the history marker.

The history marker which contained the engraved signatures of the Chief Justice and 13 associate justices gives tribute to the partnership of the Ateneo de Davao and the Supreme Court in making the first-ever regionalized and digitalized Philippine Bar Examinations a success.

Fr. Joel Tabora, president of the Ateneo de Davao University said in his acceptance speech that the university is open to future collaborations in holding the regional and digital bar examinations.

“May this celebration signal many more years of collaboration in conducting best-ever localized and digitized bar exams,” Fr. Tabora said. (PIA/RG Alama)
