Escobal assures safe, secure 2022 elections in Davao Region
DAVAO CITY- The regional police chief Brigadier General Filmore Escobal assured the public that they will exert efforts to ensure a safe and secure election period and election day in Davao Region.

Escobal said the police has strictly implemented the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) checkpoint and establishment of random checkpoints as well.

He said the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 is  also intensifying efforts to make it hard, if not impossible, to transport firearms that could be used in any form of atrocities and to check the compliance on the COMELEC gun ban.

The PRO earlier identified several places in the region under Election Areas of Concern or those that have suspected Election Related Incidents (ERI) in the last two elections.

Two cities and 18 municipalities were also identified as election areas of immediate concern or those who in addition to the presence of ERI was also affected by possible armed threats by the Criminal Terrorist Groups (CTGs).

The areas identified under Election Areas of Immediate Concern includes Bansalan, Digos City, Kiblawan, Matanao, Magsaysay, and Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur; Tagum City, New Corella, and Talaingod in Davao del Norte; Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental; Lupon in Davao Oriental; while Laak, Mabini, Maco, Maragusan, Mawab, Monkayo, New Bataan, Pantukan, and Montevista in Davao de Oro.

PRO 11 has also identified areas under Davao City Police Office (DCPO) as Election Areas of No Security Concern. 

According to Escobal, they are maximizing manpower and resources to cover all the barangays in the area and to secure the election materials and equipment as soon as they are made available.
