The DCBWSP aims to provide 300 million liters of treated water to Davao City Water District (DCWD) particularly in the second district of the city. The bulk water project utilizes surface water from the Tamugan River in Calinan District.
May Che Capili External Relations Office of Apo Agua said during her guesting at Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Annex on Monday (Sept. 26) said the Apo Agua has taken the lead and the construction of the project to prevent the more delays.
“Nangamot niini sa pagpahuman ug pagpapaspas sa (We are trying to finish and expedite the) bulk water supply system, target delivery of the first optic point is in the first quarter of 2023," Capili said.
Apo Agua is eyeing to deliver treated water to the Tugbok optic point in the first quarter of 2023 and then the second quarter of next year they will be progressively ramping up to bring water to the other seven optic points in Calinan, Talandang, Mandug, Indangan, Cabantian, Panacan and Dumoy.
She said the original EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor JV Angeles Construction Corporation is no longer the EPC of the project and that several contractors have taken its place.
“We have signed up multiple contractors that has long experience in bulk water supply construction and management and these contractors have experience in hydropower and water treatment. And also ongoing ang hiring sa mga host communities,” Capili said.
The External Relations Officer bared that the Apo Agua management team had a meeting with Mayor Sebastian Duterte last week.
“We assured to him the progress of the bulk supply, the mayor is very supportive of the project and he asked us to expedite the timeline,” Capili said.
She added that the Bulk Water project is a modern water supply project which uses a Water to Energy Nexus. Aside from water supply it has a hydropower component to power the water treatment plants.
“This is a one-of-a-kind design. This is the only bulk water supply project facility that will have it. This is what we call Water-To-Energy Nexus, water for energy, energy for water,” Capili said. (PIA/RG Alama)
