The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division of the Philippine Army marked National Heroes Day on August 31 with a 12.7-kilometer foot march, paying tribute to the courage and sacrifices of Filipino heroes.
The activity began at Camp Edilberto T. Evangelista in Barangay Patag, passing through Barangays Bulua, Canitoan, and Iponan before ending at the division headquarters.
More than a physical endurance exercise, the march served as an opportunity for 4ID personnel to reflect on the values demonstrated by the country’s heroes, including courage, patriotism, discipline, selflessness, and dedication to public service.
4ID Commander Maj. Gen. Marion T. Angcao urged the troops to honor the legacy of Filipino heroes not only through remembrance but also through their continued commitment to serving the people and protecting the nation.
Angcao emphasized that a soldier’s strength is reflected not only in physical fitness but also in the willingness to sacrifice, uphold discipline, and faithfully perform one’s responsibilities in the interest of peace, security, and public welfare.
