Santa Cruz Municipality key officials express support, solidarity for Sen. Bato
The Sangguniang Bayan of Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur has unanimously approved a Resolution expressing solidarity and support for Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, a proud son of the municipality whose life story has become inseparable from the identity, history, and aspirations of the people of Santa Cruz.

The Resolution comes amid continuing public discussions and reported legal proceedings concerning Senator dela Rosa in relation to the national government’s anti-illegal drug campaign and the reported actions before the International Criminal Court (ICC). It likewise recognizes that urgent legal remedies and petitions have reportedly been elevated before the Supreme Court to determine the constitutional and legal implications of any alleged ICC warrant of arrest.

In adopting the Resolution, the Sangguniang Bayan emphasized that the 1987 Philippine Constitution stands as the supreme protector of every Filipino’s liberty and dignity. It stressed that no citizen shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, and that all enforcement actions must remain firmly anchored on the Constitution, Philippine laws, and established judicial procedures.

More than a statement of support, the Resolution is a declaration of faith in the rule of law, judicial independence, and the enduring principles of justice upon which the Republic stands.

Over the years, Mayor Jose Nelson Sala, Sr. and Senator dela Rosa have shared a strong working relationship founded on mutual respect, public service, and a shared commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Santa Cruz, driving the Mayor to approve and sign the said SB Resolution.

For the people of Santa Cruz, Senator dela Rosa is not merely a national figure. Before the titles, before the headlines, and before the controversies, he was a boy from Barangay Bato who wad raised in modest circumstances, shaped by hardship, discipline, and perseverance. From the quiet streets of Santa Cruz emerged a man who would one day rise to become Chief of the Philippine National Police and later Senator of the Republic.

His journey resonates deeply with many Santacruzeños because it reflects the struggles and hopes of ordinary Filipino families. To many residents, his story is living proof that greatness can emerge from humble beginnings, and that public service remains one of the noblest paths a son of Santa Cruz can take.

The Sangguniang Bayan likewise recognized Senator dela Rosa’s enduring connection to his hometown and the pride many residents continue to feel for a fellow Santa Cruzian who carried the name of their community into the national consciousness.

At the same time, the municipal legislative body emphasized that all legal and constitutional questions must ultimately be resolved by the proper judicial authorities in accordance with law, free from political pressure, external interference, or disregard of constitutional safeguards.

The Municipality of Santa Cruz reiterates its commitment to uphold democratic institutions, constitutional processes, and the sovereignty of the Filipino people, while standing in solidarity with one of its own during a time of profound national significance.

Copies of the approved Resolution shall be furnished to the Office of the President, the Senate of the Philippines, the Supreme Court, the Department of Justice, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police, the National Bureau of Investigation, and other concerned government agencies for their information and appropriate action.
