In the program dubbed “Oplan Harabas”, personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and partner government agencies conducted a surprise mandatory drug test to conductors, bus, van and taxi drivers of public transportation services.
K9 dogs sweep the terminals in the region as part of the Agency’s holistic approach in reducing the demand for illegal drugs, thus, promoting drug-free workplaces.
Oplan Harabas which is a simultaneous surprise mandatory drug testing to all drivers in public terminals nationwide also aims to ensure the safety of passengers from drugged drivers and at the same time, promote a drug-free public transport system all over the country.
In partnership with the Land Transportation and Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine National Police (PNP), Highway Patrol Group (HPG), and local government units (LGUs), PDEA operatives proceeded to the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT), and Gaisano Mall Transport Terminal in Davao City, Digos City New Satellite Bus Terminal in Digos City, Davao del Sur and Tagum City Overland Transport Integrated Terminal (TOTIT), in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
The PDEA team also distributed information, education and campaign (IEC) materials to the passengers.
Isumbong Mo Kay Wilkins Stickers were also posted on buses and in the designated posting areas in the said terminals.
As the lead agency in the enforcement of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, PDEA in collaboration with the other law enforcement agencies will ensure the safety and security of the passengers and the public and at the same time, make sure that no illegal drug activities will take place during the Holy Week holidays.
