The Batang Pinoy Games will be held on December 17 to 22, 2023, in Metro Manila.

Paolo Miguel Labanon, who won four gold medals in the 2023 Palarong Pambansa, is preparing for swimming tryouts in his city. He wants to be chosen for the Davao City swimming team going to the national championships of the Batang Pinoy Games.

A 17-year-old student named Labanon, who is in Grade 11 and studies STEM at Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao (MCM), talked in a Facebook interview about the challenges he faces. He said, "It's tough because I have to wake up early for practice and then go to school later. " Labanon did really well at the Palaro 2023, where he won four gold medals by himself, one bronze medal by himself, and also helped his team win a bronze medal in a relay race. 

Now Labanon is aiming to have another great performance at the upcoming Batang Pinoy Games. Labanon said that he is trying his best to manage his training and studies, even though it is difficult. He recently got money as a reward from the Department of Education in Davao City. The ceremony happened at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, and the mayor, Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, spoke at the event. Lebanon got a prize of P80,000. They received P15,000 for each of the four gold medals and P10,000 for each of the two bronzes. Moreover, he got more than P100,000 from DepEd Davao region when he was in Marikina City. Marikina City organized the Palaro. 

The ex-student from Stella Maris Academy of Davao (SMAD) said he was really happy to be on stage with the mayor, who recognized his impressive accomplishments. The regional director of DepEd, Allan Farnazo, asked him to come up on the stage and introduced him to Mayor Duterte.
