DAVAO CITY –Residents in some areas of Davao Region were evacuated due to the effects of typhoon Odette on Thursday (Dec. 16), the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council 11 (RDRRMC) reported as of 3:50 p.m.
The report stated that 13 individuals in Barangay Matina Crossing were evacuated after two houses were totally damaged due to a landslide around 12 noon.
Then, a total of 614 individuals were also evacuated in the two towns of Davao de Oro who reportedly were living in the flood-prone barangays.
Of the total number, 477 evacuated individuals were from Barangay Andap in the town of New Bataan while 137 came from Barangay Magsaysay in the town of Nabunturan.
Meanwhile, cottages in the town of Caraga, Davao Oriental were reportedly washed out due to strong wind and waves.
Other areas in the region only experienced light to moderate rains and no major untoward incidents happened. (Armando Fenequito)
