This came after the reported proliferation of unauthorized vaccination cards and vaccination exemption cards here.
The City Information Office (CIO) in its report said that after a successful entrapment of fake vaccination cards last year, the unit continues to monitor these establishments.
"Our police officers were able to entrap someone from Diaz Mall last year and the person already pleaded guilty. We are still monitoring if there are people who are making these cards in the same area,” Sagarino said.
Mayor Sara Duterte had earlier warned the public against possessing or issuing vaccination exemption cards and unauthorized vaccination cards.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) previously warned the public that there is no such thing as “COVID-19 vaccination exemption cards” that are allegedly used by unvaccinated individuals to be exempted from stay-at-home orders, ride public transportation, and enjoy other privileges.
The agency clarified that the government will not ssue nor recognize such cards because this runs counter to the government’s national vaccination program to inoculate the majority of the populace to achieve population protection.
Sagarino encouraged Dabawenyos to report on any transactions involving such unauthorized vaccination cards, investment scams, among others.
“We would like to inform our constituents that if you have queries or doubts, you are free to visit our office which is open from 8 am to 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays,” Sagarino further said.
