Davao City Police to intensify curfew for minors
DAVAO CITY- Police here will beef up implementation of curfew hours for minors to ensure their safety and protection.

Colonel Alberto Lupaz, chief of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said he has already directed the city's police station commanders  to strictly impose the curfew which prohibits unescorted minors from loitering around outside their houses between 10 p.m. and  4a.m

Lupaz’s directive came after a 14-year old girl from Toril District, this city was rescued by the police in General Santos City on Sunday afternoon, August 28 after she was initially reported missing, 7 in the evening on August 27.

According to Lupaz, the police will “rescue” minors who are found to be loitering outside their homes in the city and will be turned over to temporary custody of the Women and Children Protection Desks of police stations.

He also advised parents to ensure that their children should be inside their residences before night time.

Lupaz, meanwhile dismissed reports of kidnapping incidents in the city.  He confirmed that the reported kidnapping of two minors which went viral in social media was fake news.

The said minors, including the 14-year old who was allegedly abducted, had personally appeared Monday afternoon, August 28 with their parents in a press conference at Davao City Police Office.

The said minors strongly denied they were kidnapped as wrongly reported in social media.

They both claimed that they intended to leave their home for personal problems without asking permission from their respective parents.

Both minors made a public apology for their action that caused so much confusion and fear to the public due to irresponsible posting of unverified reports on social media.

Lupaz said DCPO is now preparing for the prosecution of those identified individuals responsible for spreading malicious information that tainted a negative perception to the public and has brought so much damage to the safety and security of the city.
