The slain BIFF member was identified by the military as Ramos Amilil who led the fully-armed BIFF under Muslimin Amilil of the 2nd Division of the BIFF bandits.
According to Colonel Oriel L. Pangcog, Commander of 601st Infantry Brigade said that the elements of the 33rd IB conducted an intensified military operation when the group of Ramos traded bullets with government forces but eventually scampered to different directions.
“The firefight lasted about 11 minutes after which, the BIFF members scampered towards different directions leaving behind their casualty upon the assault of the opening troops while the government side had no casualties”, Pangcog said.
The soldiers were able to recover Amilil’s body, including an M14 Rifle, one M16 Rifle, magazines, a bandolier, and ammunition.
Amilil's group was the third BIFFs who were neutralized from January to July, 2022.
There were also 133 BIFF members who surrendered while 105 firearms had been confiscated in the same period.
