Speaking at AFP-PNP Press Corps briefing on Wednesday (Nov. 2) at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Silo bared that seven most wanted persons were arrested while they were visiting their loved ones in different cemeteries in Davao Region.
“What we did was to place our police personnel in the cemeteries in advance monitoring them and then fortunately, true enough, bumisita nga sila and so we served the standing warrants of arrest against them. We had arrested the most wanted persons practically in all provinces of Davao Region,” Silo said.
He said the arrested persons were involved in robbery, rape, and illegal drugs.
One of the seven individuals arrested was considered as the top six wanted persons in Davao del Norte.
Silo, meanwhile said, the observance of Undas as well as the opening of full-blast implementation of the Face-to-Face classes are generally peaceful.
He said no untoward incidents have been recorded during the long weekend and even during the resumption of in-person classes, Wednesday.
“Prior to the deployment of personnel in the different schools, we coordinated with the school management and we required all provincial directors, chief of police na direktang makikipag-coordinate sa pamunuan ng mga eskwelahan na kanilang nasasakupan upang sa ganon maiparating yong klase ng seguridad na ibibigay natin. So far wala po tayong naitala na untoward incidents sa ibat-ibang eskwelahan,” Silo said.
He said the police also placed public assistance desks at different schools in the region.
Major General Nolasco Mempin, commander of 10th Infantry Brigade, on the other hand said, the military serves as a supporting role to its PNP counterpart.
The Task Force Davao served by providing support to the Davao City Police Office in the security coverage during Undas and the opening of classes.
“With regards to the opening of F2F classes, supporting roles din tayo sa PNP counterparts. We also provide manpower augmentation especially to the schools with bigger populations,” he said.
Mempin said they gave an additional layer of security just to ensure that no incidents occur in any school premises in the region.
