One of the pe-requisites of the course is for participants to have already undergone a BMC with an MFPI-accredited organization or training provider.
AMC is a landmark activity in the history of mountaineering in Mindanao as it is the first-ever advanced course on mountaineering offered in the island.
The first AMC was held in August of 2021 and was able to get strong support from the government and private sectors as it promoted mountaineering as one of the safe leisure in the new normal encouraging health and fitness away from crowds.
Advocating for “Responsible Mountaineering and Safety”, MFPI aims to re-educate outdoor enthusiasts that mountaineering is challenging and there is a necessary skills-set needed to ensure one’s safety.
In the light of mountaineering, becoming a common leisure activity in the country and the misdirection of some enthusiasts in conducting themselves outdoors, the organization wants to highlight that on top of the enjoyment and fun, mountaineers should be foremost responsible for themselves, their team, and for nature, thus the need to undergo the necessary trainings.
The MFPI is the national umbrella organization of mountaineering and outdoor clubs in the country and has its own standards in providing mountaineering-related training and programs.
