5 Kilos of marijuana seized in Davao City buy-bust
A 26-year-old man was arrested after authorities seized around five kilograms of suspected marijuana during a buy-bust operation in Davao City on Friday afternoon, August 28.

The operation was carried out around 1:15 p.m. in St. Peter Julian Eymard Village, Barangay 19-B, by the Regional Special Enforcement Team of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 11 (PDEA 11), with the National Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office 11, City Mobile Force Company, and Ecoland Police Station.

Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Jhaylord.” He was arrested after allegedly selling a brick of suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing about one kilogram to a PDEA poseur-buyer.

A further search yielded three more bricks and four rolled pieces of suspected marijuana, weighing approximately four kilograms in total. Authorities also recovered 18 disposable vape pens containing suspected marijuana, one used vape pen believed to have contained marijuana, and the marked money used in the operation. 

The confiscated items were secured for documentation and laboratory examination.

The suspect is expected to face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.

The successful operation highlights the intensified efforts of PDEA 11 and its partner law enforcement agencies to disrupt the supply and distribution of illegal drugs in Davao City.

PDEA 11 assures to  conduct relentless intelligence-driven operations and strengthen coordination among law enforcement units to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
