According to 10th ID spokesman Major Ruben Gadut, the drug tests was held on January 2 at its headquarters in Barangay Tuburan, Mawab, Davao de Oro.
They submitted urine samples during the surprise drug testing facilitated by the doctors from the 10th ID Station Hospital.
Meanwhile, from January to December in 2024, some 28 personnel of 10th ID have tested positive for illegal drug use. Of the number, 17 were regular soldiers and 11 CAFGUs.
Gadut said out of 28, eight soldiers were discharged from the service and 13 are now awaiting for their discharged order, while seven CAFGUs were also dismissed.
He said the 10th ID actively supports the Philippine Army's Anti-Narcotics Program by mandating drug testing for all personnel seeking promotion, schooling, or reenlistment.
This proactive measure underscores the 10ID's dedication to maintaining a drug-free environment and upholding the highest standards of integrity and discipline, Gadut said.
On the other hand, Major Catherine Dela Rey, spokesman of Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 reported that 861 of its members who underwent a random drug testing on Jan. 2 were negative for methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
Out of this number, 333 are personnel from the Davao City Police Office.
PRO 11 director BGen Leon Victor Rosete said the initiative is a key component of the PNP’s continuing internal disciplinary mechanism aimed at maintaining a drug-free workplace and ensuring public trust in their organizetion.
Rosete said “the negative results affirm the readiness and commitment of our personnel to remain trustworthy public servants.”
