DAVAO CITY--PBA Partylist first nominee lawyer Migs Nograles graced the launching of Pilipinas Sambo's second book entitled "Fitness Sambo for every Juan" on Friday, (Feb. 25 ) at the Lanang branch of Mixed Temptation Chinese Restaurant.

Nograles personally came to show her support for the first and only National Sports Association (NSA) based in Davao City as it endeavors fitness and self-defense among the Filipinos in the midst of pandemic.

"I am happy on behalf of Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, who is the chairman of Pilipinas Sambo, to be part of the book launching," Nograles said, adding that this manual is an efficient tool towards a healthy lifestyle in the comforts of their homes.

The first nominee vowed to continue supporting the Pilipinas Sambo team with the hope of having more medals in the international competition.

As a lawyer, Nograles eyes to legislate policies that will directly benefit the athletes and the youth.

"The laws we have today are not enough to garner support especially for the grassroots," she said.

Nograles stressed that Davao City is rich with promising athletes struggling with insufficient support. Thus, she will act on addressing this problem for the welfare of the athletes.

"If given a chance, I promise as a fellow athlete, to understand what is needed, and I will become your lawyer in this coming Congress," Nograles' message to the Filipino athletes.

Pilipinas Sambo Paolo Tancontian, meanwhile, expressed his deepest gratitude to PBA Partylist and its kind Chairman for the undying support.

Tancontian explained that the creation of the Fitness Sambo book is the NSA's first step in pushing Sports Sambo to be part of the curriculum of the Department of Education (DepEd) that soon it may be part of the Palarong Pambansa and its local and regional qualifiers.

Tancontian also shared that PBA Partylist bankrolled the first batch of the book publication.

A total of 50 copies were distributed to various sports bodies including DepEd, partner schools, and partner barangays.

Architect Michael Angelo Dakudao of the Mindanao Times and Evelyn Magno, an executive of Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC), also pledged to support the propagation of Sport Sambo. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
