Leading the charge for the Mindanao gold medal winners are Tuban and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur native and Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Nesthy Petecio and Cagayan de Oro City resident and Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Carlo Paalam.
Paul Julyfer Bascon, a native of Braulio E. Dujali, Davao del Norte, also won a gold medal.
Aside from the three golds, Norlan Petecio, the younger brother of Nesthy, also won the men's 67 kg silver medal.
In total, the boxing team won 10 medals in the competition.
Marcus Manalo, the secretary general of the ABAP, stated that they were happy with the outcome, particularly considering that several of the boxers were competitors in the biannual meet for the first time.
Manalo claimed they are utilizing their successful SEAG campaign as a springboard to the vital 19th Asian Games, which is scheduled to take place in September in China and a chance for slots in the 2024 Paris Olympics.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
